The International Day of Plant Health is observed on 12 May to raise awareness of how protecting plants supports food security, biodiversity, trade, livelihoods and environmental health.

The FAO Conference adopted Resolution 6/2021 proposing an International Day of Plant Health on 12 May and recorded the Day as one of the key outputs of the International Year of Plant Health.
On 29 March 2022, the UN General Assembly adopted A/RES/76/256 establishing 12 May as the International Day of Plant Health. FAO states that Zambia championed the proposal.
