8 Apostrophe Examples
Use these examples to study structure, specificity, tone, and variation. They are demonstrations—not claims about a real person or organization unless the example itself makes that explicit.
What to notice in the examples
Correct apostrophe use depends on first deciding whether the word shows ownership, omission, or simple plurality, then applying the matching pattern consistently.
- Use apostrophe + s for most singular possessive nouns.
- Use an apostrophe after the s for most regular plural possessives.
- Use apostrophes in contractions to mark omitted letters.
- Do not add an apostrophe to ordinary plural nouns, years, or acronyms merely because they end in s.

Keep the underlying decision or pattern, then replace the subject, evidence, relationship, constraints, and tone with details that belong to your situation. If your final line still works after swapping only one noun, it may be too close to the example.
