8 Farewell Message Examples

Use these examples to study structure, specificity, tone, and variation. They are demonstrations—not claims about a real person or organization unless the example itself makes that explicit.

What to notice in the examples

A good farewell message is warm without becoming a performance review of the workplace; it names specific appreciation where genuine and separates personal contact sharing from operational handover details.

  • Open with the context or purpose quickly so the reader knows why the farewell message matters.
  • Organize the middle around the information the reader needs to act on: appreciation, departure context, optional contact information, and operational continuity.
  • Close with a clear next step, date, owner, contact point, or courteous sign-off instead of leaving the reader to infer what happens next.

Turn an example into your own writing

Keep the underlying decision or pattern, then replace the subject, evidence, relationship, constraints, and tone with details that belong to your situation. If your final line still works after swapping only one noun, it may be too close to the example.
