A strong help article matches one clear user intent, states prerequisites, gives ordered steps, explains expected results, anticipates common failure points, and links to the next relevant task without burying the answer in background.

  • Use a title that matches the task or problem users search for.
  • State who the instructions apply to and any prerequisites.
  • Write numbered steps with one main action per step.
  • Show expected results or confirmation states.
  • Add troubleshooting only for common, relevant failures.
