The study surveyed 1,200 commuters to examine factors associated with transit use. Frequency and reliability were stronger predictors than fare price, although the cross-sectional design cannot establish causation.
8 Research Summary Examples
Use these examples to study structure, specificity, tone, and variation. They are demonstrations—not claims about a real person or organization unless the example itself makes that explicit.

A strong research summary lets a reader understand what was investigated, how the evidence was produced, what the main result was, and how far the conclusion can reasonably extend.
- Research purpose or question.
- Method, data, sample, or source base.
- Main findings in proportion to their importance.
- Key limitation, uncertainty, or scope condition.
- Relevance to the context in which the summary is being used.
Researchers compared two feedback schedules in eight classrooms. Weekly feedback produced faster early gains, while final assessment scores were similar between groups.
The report analyzes five years of housing permits and finds that approvals increased after zoning changes, with the largest growth in neighborhoods already experiencing strong demand.
Using interviews with 32 nurses, the study identifies unclear responsibility and delayed information as recurring handoff problems; the qualitative sample is designed for depth rather than prevalence estimates.
The experiment tested whether retrieval practice improved delayed recall. Participants who practiced recall outperformed those who reread, especially after a one-week delay.
The historical article uses letters and court records to argue that informal trade networks persisted despite formal restrictions, though surviving records overrepresent disputes that reached authorities.
The review synthesizes 46 studies and concludes that tree canopy generally reduces urban heat exposure, while noting substantial variation in species, maintenance, and measurement methods.
The usability study observed 18 participants completing checkout tasks. Most errors occurred at address validation, leading the authors to recommend clearer inline guidance rather than a full page redesign.
Keep the underlying decision or pattern, then replace the subject, evidence, relationship, constraints, and tone with details that belong to your situation. If your final line still works after swapping only one noun, it may be too close to the example.
