Use these examples to study structure, specificity, tone, and variation. They are demonstrations—not claims about a real person or organization unless the example itself makes that explicit.

What to notice in the examples

Accurate agreement comes from identifying the true subject rather than choosing the verb that sounds closest to a nearby noun. Complicated sentences become easier when interrupting phrases are temporarily removed.

  • Find the complete subject and its head noun.
  • Ignore nouns inside many prepositional or parenthetical phrases when matching the verb.
  • Treat indefinite pronouns according to their grammatical number.
  • Check compound subjects and collective nouns in context.

Turn an example into your own writing

Keep the underlying decision or pattern, then replace the subject, evidence, relationship, constraints, and tone with details that belong to your situation. If your final line still works after swapping only one noun, it may be too close to the example.
