Plot Structure Template 1
Setup → disruption → response → escalation → decisive choice → consequence.
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
Effective plot structure supports the story’s particular conflict rather than forcing every narrative into identical percentages; each structural beat should change goals, information, options, or stakes.
Setup → disruption → response → escalation → decisive choice → consequence.
Act questions: What is unstable? What forces commitment? What changes the strategy? What choice resolves the main pressure?
Turning-point test: Before [beat], the character can [option]. After it, [option/state] is no longer possible.
Midpoint test: New information about [goal/conflict] causes the protagonist to change from [old strategy] to [new strategy].
