Plot Template 1
Causal beat: Because [character] chooses [action], [consequence] occurs, forcing [next choice].
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
A strong plot feels both surprising and earned because major turns grow from character decisions, established pressures, and consequences rather than from unrelated events inserted only to keep the story moving.
Causal beat: Because [character] chooses [action], [consequence] occurs, forcing [next choice].
Escalation: The character can still get [goal], but now must risk [greater cost].
Reversal: The attempt to solve [problem] creates [larger problem] because [established cause].
Climax choice: To achieve [goal], the protagonist must choose between [value A] and [value B].
Plot causality test: Event A → character decision [ ] → consequence [ ] → new constraint [ ] → next decision [ ].
Plot fit: Event → character decision → consequence → new constraint/opportunity → next decision. Repeat until climax.
