Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement Template 1
Singular human antecedent: Each [person] should [verb] their [noun].
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
Clear agreement lets readers identify every pronoun’s referent immediately, avoids unintended shifts between singular and plural or first and second person, and respects the person’s stated pronouns.
Singular human antecedent: Each [person] should [verb] their [noun].
Organization: The [organization] [verb] its [noun].
Plural antecedent: The [plural noun] [verb] their [noun].
Ambiguity repair: replace [pronoun] with [specific noun/name] at the point where two antecedents are possible.
