Relative Clause Template 1
Restrictive: The [noun] that/who [essential identifying detail] [main predicate].
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
Clear relative clauses sit close to the noun they modify and distinguish essential information from nonessential information so punctuation matches the intended meaning.
Restrictive: The [noun] that/who [essential identifying detail] [main predicate].
Nonrestrictive: [Specific noun], who/which [extra detail], [main predicate].
Possession: The [noun] whose [possessed item] [verb] [main predicate].
Object relative: The [thing] that [subject] [verb] [main predicate].
