Research Objective Template 1
Overall objective: To [action verb] [phenomenon/relationship] among [population] in [setting] during [time frame].
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
A strong research objective is precise enough to guide data collection and analysis, aligned with the research question, feasible within the study design, and written with an observable action verb.
Overall objective: To [action verb] [phenomenon/relationship] among [population] in [setting] during [time frame].
Specific objective: To compare [group A] and [group B] on [outcome] using [defined measure].
Exploratory objective: To explore how [population] describes [experience/process] in [context].
Alignment check: Research question [question] → objective [objective] → data needed [data] → analysis [analysis].
