Response Paper Template 1
Response claim: The source’s argument that [claim] is convincing/limited because [reason].
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
A strong response paper shows that the writer understood the source and then does something intellectually specific with it: question an assumption, connect an idea, evaluate evidence, apply a concept, or explain how the material changed an interpretation.
Response claim: The source’s argument that [claim] is convincing/limited because [reason].
Connection frame: [Source concept] connects to [case/experience/other text] because [specific relationship].
Question frame: The source assumes [assumption]. I question this because [evidence/reason].
Application frame: When [concept] is applied to [case], it reveals [insight].
