Setting Writing Prompts Template 1
Character lens: Take prompt [#] and rewrite it from the viewpoint of the person with the least power.
Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.
A strong setting prompt makes place causally important by giving the environment rules, constraints, history, resources, hazards, or social meanings that affect what characters can notice, want, and do.
Character lens: Take prompt [#] and rewrite it from the viewpoint of the person with the least power.
Constraint lens: Keep the premise but set the entire scene within [time/place/object constraint].
Genre shift: Rewrite the same premise as [genre A] and [genre B]; change what counts as danger.
Escalation: After the first obvious solution fails, add [cost/revelation/deadline] that forces a harder choice.
