8 Human Editing After AI Examples

Use these examples to study structure, specificity, tone, and variation. They are demonstrations—not claims about a real person or organization unless the example itself makes that explicit.

What to notice in the examples

The strongest human edit goes beyond proofreading: it restores accountable judgment, removes synthetic filler, verifies consequential claims, and rewrites sentences that are technically fluent but do not sound like the writer or fit the situation.

  • Define the human objective, source material, audience, and constraints before asking an AI system to contribute.
  • Use the model for a bounded transformation or analysis task while preserving this guardrail: a human must restore factual, editorial, ethical, and voice accountability before publication or sending.
  • Finish with human verification, rewriting, source checks, and accountability for the final wording rather than treating model output as publication-ready.
1

Replace “In today’s fast-paced world” with the actual circumstance the paragraph needs to establish.

2

Verify every statistic against its original source and correct the publication date if needed.

3

Remove a confident causal claim when the source only shows correlation.

4

Restore a technical term the AI simplified incorrectly.

5

Rewrite three consecutive sentences that use the same polished cadence so the passage sounds natural.

6

Delete an invented customer quote even if it was clearly intended as an example in the model output.

7

Check whether a shortened email accidentally removed the condition attached to a refund promise.

8

Compare the final draft with your original notes to make sure no important caveat disappeared during revision.

Turn an example into your own writing

Keep the underlying decision or pattern, then replace the subject, evidence, relationship, constraints, and tone with details that belong to your situation. If your final line still works after swapping only one noun, it may be too close to the example.
