Reusable frameworks

4 Research Methodology Templates

Start with structure, then replace every placeholder with information that is true, relevant, and natural for your context. These templates are intentionally skeletal so your final writing does not sound mass-produced.

How to personalize a template

A strong methodology is specific enough for readers to understand and evaluate what was done, explains why major choices fit the question, distinguishes design from procedure, and reports decisions transparently rather than hiding inconvenient details.

  1. 1
Choose the template closest to your actual purpose.
  2. 2
Replace every bracketed field with specific information.
  3. 3
Delete any sentence that does not belong in your situation.
  4. 4
Read the result aloud for unnatural transitions or repeated phrasing.
  5. 5
Verify names, dates, links, facts, and promises before sending or publishing.
Research Methodology Template 1
Methodology skeleton: Design → setting/sample → measures/data sources → procedure → analysis → ethics → limitations.
Research Methodology Template 2
Design rationale: Because the question asks [type of question], this study uses [design], which can provide [appropriate evidence] but cannot establish [important limit].
Research Methodology Template 3
Sampling frame: Population [who] | inclusion [criteria] | exclusion [criteria] | recruitment/source [how] | final sample [n].
Research Methodology Template 4
Analysis plan: For objective [number], analyze [variables/data] using [method]; report [effect/theme/estimate] with [uncertainty/quality check].
