Kotak Mahindra BankKotak Mahindra Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

Kotak customers who need to distinguish their normal segment/customer-set daily limit from a rail's larger technical ceiling and from temporary limits on a newly added beneficiary.

Cost / pricing
Kotak transfer charges are account and channel specific. Current savings-account schedules show Net/Mobile NEFT and RTGS as nil-charge, while branch NEFT/RTGS can use amount-slab charges; IMPS treatment also varies by account schedule rather than one universal bankwide price.

Federal BankFederal Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

Federal Bank customers who want to understand how their own FedNet transaction limit, 2FA choice and beneficiary state affect transfers rather than relying on a generic maximum.

Cost / pricing
Federal Bank's current service-charge schedule lists interbank NEFT/RTGS as free on FedNet and FedMobile, while IMPS uses slab charges of ₹2.50, ₹5, ₹7 and ₹15 by transfer amount. Generic outward NEFT/RTGS charge tables still exist for other service contexts, so channel/account scope is retained.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

NEFT
Digital NEFT is available 24x7 except Kotak's published 11:30 PM–12:30 AM no-initiation window. Existing/customer-set limits apply through 9:30 PM; up to ₹10 lakh is shown for 9:30–11:30 PM, and the bank publishes a maximum permissible ₹50 lakh per transaction from 12:30–7:30 AM, still subject to the overall daily limit.
RTGS
Minimum ₹2 lakh. Kotak lists RTGS 24x7 except 11:30 PM–12:30 AM and a maximum permissible ₹5 crore per transaction between 12:30–7:30 AM; the customer/CRN daily limit can be lower.
IMPS
Instant 24x7 through Net/Mobile. Current default CRN limits apply across IMPS with the customer's overall controls; Kotak's separate beneficiary article states up to ₹5 lakh daily IMPS after its stated first-day beneficiary restriction, so this is kept as source-scoped rather than used to overwrite the newer segment table.

Federal Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

NEFT
FedNet documents NEFT up to ₹10 lakh as available 24x7 subject to the client's set transaction limit. Enhanced limits beyond ₹10 lakh are available Monday–Friday and eligible Saturdays from 8:45 AM–6:30 PM.
RTGS
RTGS uses the applicable ₹2 lakh system minimum. FedNet documents transfers up to ₹10 lakh 24x7 subject to the client-set limit, with enhanced limits beyond ₹10 lakh during the published working-day window.
IMPS
IMPS is an instant digital rail; the reviewed Federal sources do not provide one clean universal Federal customer maximum, so v1.39 preserves the customer/channel limit model rather than inventing a daily cap.
02Is the beneficiary ready for the required amount?Check beneficiary activation and temporary cooling conditions before relying on a transfer ceiling.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

Beneficiary controls
Main current limit page: add up to 10 beneficiaries/day for Privy/Wealth/Solitaire/Non-Resident or 5/day for Regular/811; newly added beneficiary caps are ₹3 lakh, ₹50,000 and ₹25,000 by segment, after a 30-minute no-transfer cooling period.
Security cooling
A separate current Kotak help article says the limit is ₹25,000 for the first 24 hours after a beneficiary is added or edited. Because this conflicts with the segment-based 30-minute/cap table, both are retained and the live channel screen should control at transfer time.

Federal Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

Beneficiary controls
Newly added FedNet beneficiaries are activated instantly for most 2FA arrangements, but customers who selected SMS OTP as 2FA have a 24-hour beneficiary activation wait.
Security cooling
Beneficiary cooling is authentication-form-factor dependent, not a universal Federal number. FedNet also allows customer transaction limits to be changed through its limit-management service.
03What charges and failure handling apply?Keep channel charges and the recorded reversal or recovery route attached to the transfer.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

Charges
Account/channel specific. Reviewed Kotak savings schedule: Net/Mobile NEFT/RTGS nil; branch NEFT ₹2/₹4/₹14/₹24 by amount slab and branch RTGS ₹20/₹40 by slab. IMPS pricing can differ by account proposition, so no universal charge is inferred.
Failure / reversal
Kotak exposes transaction status, service-request and dispute/support routes. For NEFT credit timing, the bank notes beneficiary-bank processing can affect receipt; pending transfers should be checked before retrying.

Federal Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

Charges
Current 1 June 2025 schedule: FedNet/FedMobile interbank NEFT/RTGS free; IMPS ₹2.50 up to ₹1,000, ₹5 above ₹1,000–₹25,000, ₹7 above ₹25,000–₹1 lakh and ₹15 above ₹1 lakh. Other transaction contexts can have their own tariffs.
Failure / reversal
FedNet lets customers track Pending Payments and Payments Made. Its RTGS FAQ states that where the beneficiary bank cannot credit the account, the beneficiary bank returns the funds to the remitting bank within two hours.

Eligible account / channelRequires an eligible Kotak account with transaction rights and sufficient available funds. The CRN transfer limit is a security/channel setting and does not replace the balance, lien or account-programme rules of the underlying account.Requires an eligible Federal Bank account linked to FedNet/FedMobile with transaction rights, sufficient balance and a customer/client transaction limit. No separate FedNet minimum balance is imposed beyond the underlying account's rules.
NEFT / RTGS / IMPS coverageNEFT and RTGS are available through Net Banking, Mobile Banking and branch, while IMPS is available through Net/Mobile channels. Kotak also supports one-time transfer without first saving a beneficiary, subject to a separate combined cap.FedNet supports third-party transfers, beneficiary management, payment tracking and customer-controlled transaction limits. NEFT/RTGS up to ₹10 lakh is documented as available 24x7 via FedNet subject to the client's set limit.
Rail / channel limitsCurrent Kotak limit guidance gives default CRN limits of ₹20 lakh for Privy/Wealth/Solitaire/Non-Resident customers, ₹10 lakh for Regular and 811 Super, and ₹5 lakh for 811 across NEFT/RTGS/IMPS/Kotak transfers. Separate rail pages publish time-window ceilings that do not replace those overall/customer-set limits.Federal's reviewed FedNet FAQ does not publish one universal daily transfer ceiling: customers can view/change their own transaction limit. NEFT/RTGS above ₹10 lakh use an enhanced-limit time window; IMPS remains subject to the customer's/channel limit and applicable payment-system ceiling.
Transfer access / eligibilityEligible Kotak customers with the required account operation/signing authority and activated Net/Mobile/branch transaction rights. Account mode and customer segment can change the applicable transfer controls.Federal Bank account holders with appropriate FedNet/FedMobile transaction access. Transaction rights and 2FA are required; corporate and specialised account rules can differ.
Rail / beneficiary relationshipThe usable amount is constrained by the applicable CRN/customer-set limit, beneficiary state, rail minimum/maximum, time-window rule and available balance. A large rail ceiling is not automatically the customer's daily limit. The usable transfer amount depends on the client's set transaction limit, rail rules, beneficiary activation state and account/channel. The bank's ₹10 lakh 24x7 NEFT/RTGS threshold is an availability threshold, not a universal customer daily cap.

Wrong-fit risks

Keep each product’s cautions beside the product.

A useful comparison shows what can make either option unsuitable instead of averaging those conditions into a score.

Kotak Mahindra Bank

Kotak Mahindra Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

  • Kotak currently publishes two first-party descriptions of newly added beneficiary limits: its main current limit page gives a 30-minute no-transfer cooling period followed by segment-specific new-beneficiary caps, while a separate help article says ₹25,000 for the first 24 hours after add/edit. v1.39 preserves that conflict.
  • Kotak's money-transfer page permits larger NEFT/RTGS amounts in specified overnight windows, but those figures remain subject to the customer's overall daily transfer limit; they are not universal defaults.
  • Branch and digital transfer charges are account/schedule dependent, so a nil-charge Net/Mobile disclosure is not generalized to every branch transaction or account variant.
Federal Bank

Federal Bank Transfers — NEFT, RTGS & IMPS

  • Beneficiary activation depends on the chosen 2FA form factor: newly added beneficiaries are normally activated instantly, but Federal says customers using SMS OTP as 2FA wait 24 hours.
  • FedNet's FAQ states NEFT/RTGS above ₹10 lakh use enhanced-limit windows on working days, while transfers up to ₹10 lakh are available 24x7 subject to the client's limit.
  • Current FedNet/FedMobile NEFT/RTGS fee waivers and IMPS slab charges must not be confused with generic outward/branch service-charge tables or product-specific waivers.
