Decision checkpoints

Answer the questions that can actually change the choice.

Each checkpoint reproduces the recorded product fields instead of assigning a winner. Read the condition, scope and missing-data state before treating a difference as useful to you.

01Can your account and device use this UPI service?Check the funding relationship and registration conditions for the named service.

ICICI Bank UPI — iMobile

Eligible funding source
Requires an eligible linked bank account for account-funded UPI. UPI Lite is loaded from the linked savings account and cannot be topped up using a debit or credit card under the current ICICI FAQ.
Registration
Link the eligible bank account in iMobile and complete the mobile/account verification plus UPI PIN setup. UPI Lite is separately enabled by selecting the bank account, adding value and authenticating setup with the UPI PIN.

IndusInd Bank UPI — INDIE

Eligible funding source
Requires a UPI-enabled linked bank account. INDIE also allows other banks’ UPI-supporting accounts to be linked to an INDIE UPI ID, so the app relationship and remitter-bank relationship can differ.
Registration
Register UPI in INDIE and link a supported account; other banks’ UPI-enabled accounts can also be attached to the INDIE UPI handle.
02Does your payment fit both normal and temporary limits?Check ordinary limits alongside new-user, device or security cooling restrictions.

ICICI Bank UPI — iMobile

Standard limits
ICICI’s NRI UPI page currently states ₹1 lakh/day for its international-mobile UPI flow. The engine does not convert that NRI statement into a universal resident iMobile cap where the reviewed resident FAQ does not give an equally scoped single figure.
Security cooling
Current NRI/international-mobile ICICI UPI guidance states ₹5,000 for the first 24 hours on Android and 72 hours on iOS after creation of a new UPI ID/VPA; this is stored as NRI-flow evidence, not generalized beyond its source scope.

IndusInd Bank UPI — INDIE

Standard limits
Up to ₹1 lakh cumulatively via up to 10 transactions to non-merchant accounts daily; up to ₹2 lakh cumulatively to specific merchants daily under the current INDIE FAQ.
Security cooling
First 24 hours after UPI registration: up to ₹5,000 cumulatively via up to five transactions across both non-merchant and merchant payments.
03What are the payment costs and recovery conditions?Review costs and the failure or recovery route for the intended payment.

ICICI Bank UPI — iMobile

Payment / channel cost
No separate consumer fee is modeled for ordinary iMobile UPI from the reviewed FAQ. Underlying account/card/service charges, international mobile/SMS/data costs and separate payment products remain governed by their own terms.
Failure / recovery
On device change, ICICI instructs users to close the existing UPI Lite account so its balance is transferred back to the linked bank account before opening Lite on the new device; failed Lite debits have a documented refund/support path.

IndusInd Bank UPI — INDIE

Payment / channel cost
The current INDIE FAQ states there are no charges on UPI transactions. Underlying account/card tariffs and other non-UPI payment charges remain separate.
Failure / recovery
UPI history and disputes are available in INDIE. Re-registration/security changes can alter temporary app limits, so UPI cooling and general fund-transfer cooling are stored separately.

UPI / security limitsICICI’s current UPI material states ordinary UPI limits can be account/use-case specific; its NRI UPI guidance states ₹1 lakh/day and ₹5,000 initial cooling for a newly created UPI/VPA on supported international-mobile flows. UPI Lite is documented separately at ₹1,000 per payment, ₹10,000 cumulative usage/day and ₹5,000 maximum Lite balance.Current INDIE material states up to ₹1 lakh cumulatively via up to 10 daily transactions to non-merchant accounts and up to ₹2 lakh cumulatively to specific merchants. UPI LiteICICI current FAQ: ₹1,000 per transaction, ₹10,000 cumulative usage per day and ₹5,000 maximum Lite balance. No additional KYC; Auto Top-Up is available; Lite excludes UPI International, AutoPay and Collect.Current system-level UPI Lite limits are tracked separately at ₹1,000 per eligible payment and ₹5,000 maximum stored balance. A bank-specific INDIE Lite implementation is not asserted here unless the current bank channel explicitly documents it.
RuPay credit-card UPIEligible RuPay credit-card UPI should be evaluated as a separate card-funded merchant-payment state. NPCI prohibits P2P/P2PM/card-to-card/cash-withdrawal flows for linked RuPay credit cards and applies the lowest issuer-risk/card/customer limit.RuPay credit-card-on-UPI is a separate eligible card-funded merchant flow under NPCI/issuer controls; this INDIE account-UPI profile does not infer that every linked bank/card is eligible.
AutoPay / mandatesICICI’s UPI Lite explicitly excludes AutoPay; recurring UPI therefore remains an ordinary UPI AutoPay mandate layer with separate authorization/control rules.UPI AutoPay remains a separate recurring-payment authorization layer. INDIE also has biller AutoPay functions, which are not assumed to be identical to UPI AutoPay unless the payment rail is identified.
Failure / recoveryOn device change, ICICI instructs users to close the existing UPI Lite account so its balance is transferred back to the linked bank account before opening Lite on the new device; failed Lite debits have a documented refund/support path.UPI history and disputes are available in INDIE. Re-registration/security changes can alter temporary app limits, so UPI cooling and general fund-transfer cooling are stored separately.
Wrong-fit risks

Keep each product’s cautions beside the product.

A useful comparison shows what can make either option unsuitable instead of averaging those conditions into a score.

ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank UPI — iMobile

  • The ₹5,000 first-registration cooling rule cited by ICICI is explicitly documented in its NRI/international-mobile UPI flow; the engine does not automatically claim the identical duration for every resident iMobile registration path without matching evidence.
  • UPI Lite cannot be used for UPI International, AutoPay or Collect requests in ICICI’s current FAQ.
  • Changing device should be handled by closing the old UPI Lite account first so the balance returns to the bank account before creating Lite on the new device.
IndusInd Bank

IndusInd Bank UPI — INDIE

  • The ₹2 lakh daily figure applies to specific merchant payments, not ordinary person-to-person/non-merchant transfers.
  • The first 24-hour UPI cooling cap is ₹5,000 cumulative and five transactions even though broader INDIE non-UPI fund-transfer controls may show a different temporary device-registration limit.
  • Do not mix INDIE’s general fund-transfer ₹10 lakh app limit with UPI; the bank publishes UPI as a separate lower control set.
