First-party evidencePublished researchReviewed September 10, 2026Active
Issuance / reload / travel-card costs₹200 + taxes initial sale, ₹50 + taxes reload and ₹100 + taxes encashment. Current card-service schedule publishes currency-specific ATM withdrawals, e.g. USD 1.75 / EUR 1.50 / GBP 1.25 / AUD 2.50, and 3% cross-currency usage.
Loaded currency walletsPrepaid foreign-currency balances loaded at Canara's current international prepaid/card rate. The current product page is multi-currency, while live fee/rate sources expose different currency sets; exact wallet availability should therefore be confirmed at issuance.
ATM / load / usage limitsLoad/reload is subject to FEMA/RBI purpose limits and bank/card parameters. Currency-specific ATM limits are not generalized where the reviewed current product page does not publish one complete universal table.

Critical decision facts

Separate forex economics from overseas access and regulatory limits.

Markup, cross-currency conversion, ATM/POS usage, wallet funding and international controls can create very different travel costs.

Exact product-type evidence

Forex & prepaid travel card evidence stays in its own structure.

Specialist fields below remain source-scoped. Missing values stay missing; one banking product type is never used to manufacture facts for another.

Forex prepaid-card operating map

Loaded wallet, transaction currency and refund state are different economics.

A prepaid forex card locks the currency purchased at load time, but ATM fees, cross-currency use, wallet conversion, inactivity and cash-out can still add cost. Ordinary debit-card forex pricing never fills a prepaid-card evidence gap. Reviewed September 10, 2026.

Card format / currenciesCanara markets one International Travel Prepaid Card as multi-currency. Its current product-page fee table visibly covers USD/EUR/AUD, while the bank's current card-service charge and international-prepaid-rate pages also publish GBP/CAD/SGD/AED schedules. Exact currently issuable wallet set is therefore source-scoped and should be confirmed.
Purchase / KYC eligibilityIssued through Canara's travel-prepaid process subject to KYC/passport/travel/FEMA documentation. The issuing/home branch is used for important servicing such as closure/refund.
Load / reloadCan be loaded/reloaded as required within regulatory limits. Current reload fee is ₹50 + taxes. Loading uses Canara's current International Prepaid selling rate for the selected supported currency.
Load / exchange-rate mechanicsCanara publishes daily International Prepaid sell/buy rates separately from TT/bill rates. The final applicable rate is the card rate prevailing when the customer account is debited/credited; published rates are subject to market change.
Overseas ATM / cashCurrent card-service schedule publishes currency-specific international Mastercard/foreign ATM charges despite the product page describing Visa acceptance: USD 1.75, EUR 1.50, GBP 1.25, AUD 2.50, CAD 2.25, SGD 2.50, AED 6.50; balance enquiry 0.50 in each listed wallet. Network/source scope should be checked for the exact issued card.
POS / e-commerceCard is designed for international merchant/ATM use on the Visa platform per the current product page. Same-wallet merchant use is distinct from cross-currency conversion; network/merchant acceptance remains controlling.
Cross-currency usageCurrent Canara service-charge/product material lists 3% cross-currency usage.
Wallet conversionMultiple currency balances can be loaded on the card according to available wallet support. Canara's current pages do not give one fully reconciled wallet-to-wallet conversion tariff, so only the 3% cross-currency usage rule is treated as confirmed.
Issuance / reload / service fees₹200 + taxes initial sale; ₹50 + taxes reload; ₹100 + taxes encashment; reissue/renewal NIL. Current currency-specific ATM, inactivity, shortfall, cash-over-counter, retrieval and chargeback schedules remain separate.
Inactivity / expiryMonthly inactivity fee after 12 months of no use is currency-specific (e.g. USD 1.50/EUR 1/GBP 1/AUD 2.25). Product page states maximum five-year validity; exact expiry printed on the card controls.
Refund / closureCurrent encashment charge is ₹100 + taxes. Product page says closure request is submitted at issuing/home branch and unspent balance is credited back to the CASA account, using the applicable card conversion rate.
Replacement / emergency supportCurrent service-charge table lists replacement card fee as Free across its published travel-card currencies; statement/new PIN are NIL. Hotlisting and self-care controls are available.
FEMA / RBI controlsLoad/reload/encashment are subject to FEMA/RBI travel-purpose rules. Current Canara card-rate page states rates are indicative/subject to change and firm only up to the bank's published amount band; the final rate at debit/credit controls.

Fit & cautions

Who this record appears designed for—and what can break the fit.

Best-fit wording summarizes the published proposition. It is not individualized financial advice or an approval prediction.

Potential fit

Canara customers or travellers who value a relatively low ₹200 issuance / ₹50 reload schedule and want the bank's own prepaid travel card while confirming the exact currently issuable currency wallets at purchase.

Verify before relying
  • Canara's current product page shows a three-currency fee block (USD/EUR/AUD) while the current service-charge and international-prepaid-rate pages publish schedules for seven currencies; v1.52 preserves that mismatch rather than claiming a universal seven-wallet live product.
  • Cross-currency usage is currently 3%, so a mismatched transaction currency can materially change the effective cost.
  • The current schedule includes inactivity, shortfall and unsuccessful-chargeback fees; these should be checked before leaving a small residual balance dormant.
Maintained comparisons

Compare this product only where the pair is deliberately maintained.

Both sides keep independent review dates, exact conditions and first-party evidence. No winner score is generated.

First-party source ledger

Complete evidence set for this maintained profile.

Each source remains independent. A product page, tariff, KFS/MITC, rate schedule or programme document is not silently treated as interchangeable evidence.

Current-use rule

When the bank changes a term after the recorded review, the current agreement, tariff, KFS/MITC or effective rate table controls.
