HDFC Bank ATM & Cash Services

HDFC Bank's ATM/CRM/CDM service profile, keeping account-variant free allowances, other-bank ATM pricing, UPI cash-withdrawal counting, cash-deposit-machine limits and branch/CRM cash thresholds separate.

First-party evidencePublished researchReviewed September 10, 2026Active
Eligible account / cardRequires an HDFC Bank account/debit-card relationship for HDFC-card ATM use. The ATM/cash service does not waive the AMB/AQB or account-specific cash-handling rules of the linked product.
ATM / cash limitsHDFC CDMs currently list card-based deposits of ₹1 lakh per transaction and ₹2 lakh per day for Savings Accounts, and ₹1 lakh per transaction and ₹6 lakh per day for Current Accounts, with a 200-note maximum per deposit transaction. Separate card/account security limits can be lower than the machine capability.
ATM / cash service chargesHDFC publishes ATM treatment by account variant. Savings/salary-type rows use bank-specific free allowances while several Current Account variants receive unlimited HDFC ATM usage; after the applicable other-bank free allowance, current HDFC material lists ₹23 + taxes for cash withdrawal and ₹8.50 + taxes for non-financial transactions where that savings-account schedule applies. From 1 April 2026, UPI cash withdrawals at ATMs/CRMs count toward the monthly free ATM allowance and attract ₹23 + taxes after the free limit.
Account / card / channel relationshipATM/CRM/CDM limits and charges sit on top of the exact HDFC account and debit-card variant. Branch and CRM cash deposits are combined for product cash-threshold purposes from 1 August 2025.

Critical decision facts

Channel scope and security state determine what the published limit really means.

Rail, channel, beneficiary, cooling, authentication and recovery rules stay separate instead of being compressed into one generic digital-banking number.

Exact product-type evidence

ATM & cash service evidence stays in its own structure.

Specialist fields below remain source-scoped. Missing values stay missing; one banking product type is never used to manufacture facts for another.

ATM & cash control map

Free counts, cash limits and cash-handling charges belong to different layers.

Own-bank versus off-us ATM, debit-card/account limits, Cash Recycler/CDM ceilings and branch cash tariffs are kept separately scoped. Reviewed September 10, 2026.

Account / channel scopeHDFC ATM charges/free counts are account-variant rows, not a universal bank number. The profile therefore keeps Savings/Salary and Current Account treatment scoped rather than flattening them.
Own-bank ATMHDFC's ATM table gives account-specific treatment: common Savings/Salary rows use their stated HDFC-bank free allowance, while multiple Current Account variants publish unlimited HDFC ATM transactions. The exact underlying product controls.
Other-bank ATMFor common Savings/Salary treatment, HDFC publishes up to 3 free transactions at ATMs in six metros and 5 at non-metro ATMs; after the applicable free limit, cash withdrawal is ₹23 + taxes and non-financial transaction ₹8.50 + taxes. Some Current Account variants are charged from the first non-HDFC ATM transaction, so the account row must be matched.
Withdrawal / machine limitsThe issued debit card and account security caps both apply. HDFC current-account pages currently cap ATM cash withdrawal at ₹50,000/day and ₹10 lakh/month for the first 6 months, and ₹2 lakh/day and ₹10 lakh/month for older accounts; those figures are current-account-scoped, not a universal Savings limit.
Cash Recycler / CDMHDFC CDM card-based cash deposit: Savings ₹1 lakh per transaction/₹2 lakh per day; Current ₹1 lakh per transaction/₹6 lakh per day; maximum 200 notes per deposit transaction. Cardless deposits are supported by account number, subject to product limits; cash deposit can be disabled for some products.
Branch cashFrom 1 August 2025 HDFC combines branch and CRM cash deposits when applying the product's cash-transaction threshold. The amount/number of free branch cash transactions and excess charges remain account-specific.
Third-party / non-home cashNo single bankwide third-party branch-cash allowance is inferred. Third-party limits and non-home-branch treatment belong to the exact account tariff, while CDM cardless deposit uses the beneficiary HDFC account number and its product controls.
Failed ATM reversalHDFC instructs customers to report cash-not-dispensed or deposit-not-received issues to the bank. RBI's controlling failed-ATM standard is proactive reversal within T+5 calendar days and ₹100/day compensation beyond T+5.
Security controlsATM cash is constrained by card and account limits. HDFC also counts UPI cash withdrawals at ATMs/CRMs toward the monthly free ATM transaction allowance from 1 April 2026.
How to apply the chargesFree counts, ATM pricing and branch/CRM cash thresholds must be read from the specific HDFC account schedule. Machine limits are technical/operational ceilings and do not create a free-cash entitlement.

Fit & cautions

Who this record appears designed for—and what can break the fit.

Best-fit wording summarizes the published proposition. It is not individualized financial advice or an approval prediction.

Potential fit

HDFC customers who need to distinguish the ATM limit on their card/account from monthly free-transaction allowances and from branch/CRM cash-deposit thresholds.

Verify before relying
  • HDFC does not have one universal ATM allowance across every savings/current/salary product; use the exact account row before quoting a free count or charge.
  • The CDM's technical deposit limit is not the same as the product's free cash-deposit allowance. Since 1 August 2025, branch and CRM deposits are combined when testing account cash-transaction thresholds.
  • Current-account pages publish separate security caps for ATM cash withdrawal based on account age; those caps should not be generalized to all Savings accounts.
